Donation of $300,000

To Stanford Team Researching Childhood Diseases


A life sciences pioneer from China has donated $300,000 to a team of Stanford researchers that is working to understand devastating childhood conditions including Kawasaki disease, the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health announced Monday.

Kawasaki disease can afflict young children, particularly those of Asian descent, according to the foundation’s press release. The condition causes inflammation in the walls of arteries, including the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. Although the disease can be treated, early diagnosis and treatment reduce the chances of complications such as aneurisms and acquired heart disease, the press release states.
